There are 4 main intonation types: declarative, interrogative, imperative and emotive.
In a sentence in declarative intonation the tone falls:
Šiandien Lietuvoje bus gražus oras.
In a sentence in interrogative intonation the tone rises:
Šiandien Lietuvoje bus gražus oras?
In questions, when we are almost sure about the answer and we just want to make sure, the intonation should be like this:
Šiandien Lietuvoje bus gražus oras, ar ne?
In questions, when we don't know the answer, the intonation should be like this:
Šiandien Lietuvoje bus gražus oras, ar ne?
Sentences in imperative intonation are pronounced shorter, sharper, in a higher tone:
Uždarykite duris!
Sentences in emotive intonation can mean joy, sadness, anger and other emotions. Such sentences, as well as in other languages, are pronounced in various ways.
